Over four days in June 2022, MERF volunteers offered free medical consultations and health education sessions in community settings across the Bettiah region. The format was deliberately informal — clinicians available for one-on-one questions, paired with group sessions on common conditions and how to recognise them early.
Much of the work happens in the awareness, not the diagnosis. In communities where myth and superstition still shape how people respond to symptoms, a long conversation with a trusted doctor can change a household’s approach to its own health for years. That was the goal.
